2. Getting Started

There are a number of products you will need to get before starting your fake tan. Selecting the correct product is very important; typically you should buy an exfoliator, fake tanning product, applicator mitt and moisturiser.

Fake Tans/Self Tans
Fake tanning products come in many forms such as liquids, sprays, gels and mousses. There are also different strengths and shades to choose from, meaning it can be tricky to decide which to go for! Tantastic tries to make this decision easier by offering one shade which can be applied thinly for a light colour or can be layered for a deeper bronze. The choice is yours.

For beginners we recommend using the Tantastic Instant Tan which is a liquid tan that will give you a perfect and streak free golden tan.

Wash off Bronzer
A wash off bronzer allows you to decide how long your tan lasts for as it comes off easily with soap and water. These are great if you are new to tanning as they are risk free. A wash off bronzer is also great for a last minute tan as there is no development time.

Moisturiser
Using a moisturiser to maintain your tan can extend its life span, you can read more in; Aftercare – Maintaining your Tan.

Applicator Mitt
Designed specifically for use with tanning products, an Applicator Mitt will normally have a special lotion proof barrier to ensure hands are protected. They also help spread your tan evenly and streak free.

Exfoliators
To achieve an even, flawless tan, it is essential to exfoliate prior to application. See the Preparation section for more information.
